Irish Coast Guard hero Caitríona Lucas will be honoured at a special event in Clare in February.
Muintir an Chláir – Clare Association Dublin – will recognise the late mother-of-two for her bravery by naming her its Clare Person of the Year for 2017.
Caitríona died tragically on September 12th after an Irish Coast Guard rescue boat capsized in rough seas in Kilkee. The Doolin based volunteer had been involved in a missing person search along with colleagues from the Kilkee unit.
It’s understood this will be the first time that the Clare Association in Dublin will make a posthumous award.
Caitríona’s selection as Clare Person of the Year 2017 was confirmed at an event in Dublin last night.
The event will he held at the Falls Hotel in Ennistymon in February.
