Clare County Council’s Elected Members have approved a doubling of the funding allocation for the Public Area Enhancement Scheme.

Administered by the Rural Development section of Clare County Council, the annual scheme supports community-based projects with a view to further improving the overall performance of the County’s towns and villages in the annual Supervalu TidyTowns Competition.

It is also hoped that the 2017 Scheme will further enhance the physical appearance of the county for visitors to Clare during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann next August.

At Friday’s Statutory Budget Meeting for Clare County Council, Elected Members approved a proposal to increase the fund from €80,000 in 2016 to €160,000 in 2017. 38 Community and Tidy Towns groups throughout County Clare benefited from the Scheme in 2016.
