Gardaí renew appeal for information about Quin Road fire

Gardaí in Ennis have renewed their appeal for information as they to continue to investigate a significant criminal damage incident caused to a number of vehicles in the Quin Road Business Park Ennis early last month.

On Sunday the 4th of May at approximately 00.10am, a suspect is believed to have set one vehicle on fire, which subsequently spread to adjoining vehicles. The vehicles were located in a compound off the Ennis to Quin road.

The perpetrator in this instance, is believed to have entered and exited the area from the Clareabbey River Walk.

Sergeant Edel Burke said: “Gardaí are interested in speaking to anybody that may have observed suspicious persons or vehicles at the following locations: Quinn Road Business Park; Quin Road and Clareabbey Bypass.

Perhaps you saw a person or persons acting suspiciously, or a vehicle parked up. If you have dash cam footage between midnight and half past midnight on the 04/05/25, which was Saturday night into Sunday morning we would ask that you contact Gardaí.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed this incident or may have information, including dash cam footage, in relation to this crime, to please contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100.”

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the incident and spent several hours dealing with the blaze.

Gardaí in Ennis are also investigating the theft of front and rear 2009 number plates from a grey Peugeot 207 car parked in Lower Market St Ennis on Tuesday last the 30th April between 3pm and midnight.

Criminals use stolen registration plates to ensure that they don’t appear suspicious to Gardaí, so if you see a car of this make acting suspicious or If you were in the Market Street area and saw anything suspicious, please contact Ennis Garda station on 065 6848100.

Gardaí are also investigating the attempted Unauthorised taking of a car from Shalee Drive, Cloughleigh Ennis on Tuesday the 29th April at approx. 8.35am. The rear driver’s side window of a white Toyota Corolla car was broken and the ignition barrel tampered with.

The perpetrator was on foot, wearing a grey rain jacket with a hood and black pants with runners, there was a second male acting as a watch out wearing dark clothing, they both left on foot.

We’re asking people to be extra vigilant, and that if you own a non EU vehicle and have an immobiliser, you might think of other crime prevention measures as a visual deterrent such as the steering wheel brace lock, or a car alarm.
