Three hospitalised following shooting incident in Ennis

Three people have been hospitalised after shots were fired at a house in Ennis early today.

The incident, at a house in the Dún Na Hinse estate just off the Lahinch road, was reported to emergency services just after 7am. Gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the incident.

Gardaí have confirmed that a male aged in his 50s was taken from the scene to University Hospital Limerick be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening. Two other persons in the house were taken to University Hospital Limerick as a precautionary measure.

Several bullet holes could be seen in a window at the front of the house as well as the front door. An area around the front of the property has been cordoned. A technical examination was carried early this morning.

It’s understood the same property was extensively damaged by fire in April 2024.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating the discharge of a firearm at a residential premises in Ennis Co. Clare, this morning, Friday 24th July 2026.

A scene is currently held for technical examination. No arrests have been made at this time and enquiries are ongoing.”

A video, widely circulated on social media platforms, shows a hooded male firing two shots at the downstairs front room window before reloading, what appears to be a shotgun, and blasting the front door twice.
