Emergency services have dealt with a number of collisions across the west and mid-west this afternoon all believed to have occurred during poor weather conditions.
Heavy downpours of hail continue to affect many areas where Met Éireann has warned they could be prolonged at times.
Collisions were reported on the M18, M17, M7 and M6 as well on local roads in Co Clare.
A woman had a lucky escape when she lost control over her 4×4 vehicle on the Ennis to Kildysart Road at Paradise near Ballynacally. The vehicle is understood to have collided with wall before overturning.
Three units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the incident along with an ambulance and Gardaí. The collision happened around lunchtime.
Fire crews from Killaloe and Limerick City attended a single-vehicle collision which closed the Killaloe to O’Briensbridge Road for a time while another crash occurred between Inagh and Miltown Malbay. It’s understood fire crews from Ennistymon used cutting equipment to help free one person from the vehicle.
There were also collisions on the motorway network at several locations in Clare and Galway.
At around 1.30pm, a car lost control and collided with a crash barrier close to the turn-off for Newmarket on Fergus.
Another crash occurred on the opposite side of the motorway a short distance away at about 3.30pm. Two cars are understood to have lost control and crashed.
Units of the fire brigade from Shannon Town and Ennis responded to the scene along with Garda units and two ambulances.
Collisions were also reported further north on the route southbound between J18 Rathmorrissey and J17 Kilternan as well as on the M7 between Nenagh and Birdhill in Co Tipperary.
No-one was seriously injured in any of the collisions.
