Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in north Clare this afternoon.
Emergency services were alerted at around 4.45pm following a report of a man collapsed close to the Falls Hotel in Ennistymon.
An ambulance and advanced paramedic unit as well as two units of the local fire brigade attended the scene.
The HSE’s Emergency Aeromedical Service air ambulance was also requested to attend but was stood down after it was confirmed the man had passed away.
Gardaí sealed off the scene while a member of the divisional crime scene investigation unit carried our an examination of the area.
The body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
A Garda spokesman confirmed that there is no indication that the death is suspicious however the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
Gardaí are investigating the possibility that the man may have suffered a fall or died as a result of a medical episode.
The office of the State Pathologist has been informed.
