The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was tasked this morning to assist other emergency services at a serious road traffic collision in Co Tipperary.
The incident occurred shortly after 8.00am at Latteragh on the R498 between Nenagh and Borrisoleigh. The incident happened near Young’s public house.
It’s understood that a woman sustained serious injuries when she was struck by a vehicle.
The National Ambulance Service and Gardaí responded to the incident along with units of Tipperary Fire and Rescue Service.
The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115, was also tasked to carry out an air ambulance role.
The Killaloe unit of the Coast Guard was also requested to attend to secure a safe landing zone for the helicopter.
The woman was treated at the scene before being transferred to the helicopter and airlifted to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
The patient was treated at the scene of an RTC and transferred by R115 to Galway hospital for treatment.
