Gardaí seek witnesses to serious Tipperary road collision

The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was tasked this morning to assist other emergency services at a serious road traffic collision in Co Tipperary.

The incident occurred at around 8.00am at Latteragh on the R498 between Nenagh and Borrisoleigh. The incident happened near Young’s public house and involved three vehicles.

It’s understood that a woman sustained serious injuries when she was struck by a vehicle.

The National Ambulance Service and Gardaí responded to the incident along with units of Tipperary Fire and Rescue Service.

The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115, was also tasked to carry out an air ambulance role.

The Killaloe unit of the Coast Guard was also requested to attend to secure a safe landing zone for the helicopter.

A woman in her 50s was treated at the scene before being transferred to the helicopter and airlifted to University Hospital Galway for treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

They are appealing to road users who were in the area between 7.45am and 8.15am and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to the investigating Gardaí.
