No injuries have been reported following a multi-vehicle collision in Shannon this morning.
The four-car crash occurred shortly before 8.00am on the N19 dual-carriageway, the main route to Shannon Airport and Shannon Industrial Estate.
The vehicles collided in lane 2 between the Shannon Town Roundabout and the Drumgeely Roundabout during the morning rush hour.
Gardaí, the National Ambulance Service and Clare County Fire and Rescue Service dispatched crews to the scene. Units of the fire service were initially mobilised from Shannon while additional resources were dispatched from Ennis but were stood down en route.
The occupants of all four vehicles were assessed at the scene by paramedics but no one required hospitalisation.
A traffic management system was put in place while emergency crews dealt with the incident. Personnel from Traffic Infrastructure Ireland’s motorway maintenance service also attended the scene.
Once all four vehicles were recovered from the scene, a clean-up operation was carried to clear the roadway of debris and engine fluids.
The route was fully reopened at 10.15am.
