The search for a lone boatman reported missing at sea off the Galway coast has been stood down after he was found safe and well.
An operation was mounted at around 1.30pm when a black currach was reported missing in the Lettermullan area of Connemara in Co Galway.
It’s understood there was one person on board, a man in his 20s. He is thought to have set out from a local pier at around midday.
Conditions in the area were said to be poor with winds of up to 70 kms an hour reported. The area is currently subject to a Yellow Status wind warning.
The Shannon based Irish Coast Guard search helicopter, Rescue 115, and the Aran Islands RNLI lifeboat were tasked to the scene along with the Costelloe Bay Coast Guard unit.
The casualty was located at around 2.20pm on the western side of Lettermullan. It understood the man had made it ashore safely.
The search operation has been terminated and all assets stood down.
