Air Corps 112, the Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS) air ambulance based in Athlone, was tasked to the incident. That helicopter is operated jointly between the HSE and Irish Air Corps.

The HSE’s own Cork-based air ambulance, Aeromed-01, was also requested to respond to the scene. Both helicopters were able to land in a field close to the location.

The two casualties were assessed and treated at the scene before one was taken by road amublance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

The second patient was transported by ambulance from the scene across the field to the Air Corps helicopter and airlifted to a hospital in Dublin.
