Two tourists are recovering in hospital following separate accidents in Co Clare today.
The women had been visiting coastal areas in the North of the county when they both suffered falls.
The first incident occurred at around 1.00pm on walking trail at the Cliffs of Moher. An Italian woman sustained a head injury when she fell while walking between O’Brien’s Tower and Aill Na Searrach.
Rangers from the Cliffs of Moher responded to the call along with the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard and National Ambulance Service.
The woman was recovered from the location and transported to an ambulance before being taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
At around 7.00pm, the Doolin Coast Guard team was alerted again and requested to respond to an incident near Ballyrean on the coast road between Doolin and Fanore.
An American woman was reported to have suffered a serious leg injury in a fall.
Ambulance paramedics and Coast Guard volunteers travelled to the scene and quickly located the casualty. She was also removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
