Gardaí in Clare have issued a warning to public about the dangers of being conned by bogus tradespeople.
In the last week three men were arrested in Ennis town for offences contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.
The three men were charged with an offence and appeared before Ennis District Court.
In this case the three men presented at a woman’s door. They offered to clean the gutters and agreed a price. Later they demanded additional money for works they stated that they had carried out. Gardaí attended the scene and the three men were arrested at the scene.
In ordinary language, this was a ‘Bogus Tradesman Scam’ and this type of deception is regularly used by criminals. If any of the listeners today can relate to this story and would like to discuss their incident, please contact your local Garda Station.
