Ahead of Fleadh Cheoil ne hÉireann 2017 in Ennis, Clare County Council and EPA Green Business organised a Green Business Seminar for all businesses in County Clare.
This week’s Seminar at glór in Ennis explored ways businesses and companies can reduce and eliminate waste in their business including food waste, energy wastage and water use reduction through simple “no cost” and “low cost” means.
The event featured a host of speakers including Pat Stephens of the Limerick Clare Energy Agency and James Hogan of EPA Green. There was a strong focus on food waste at this year’s seminar with Sarah Broderick, Clean Technology Centre, and Annette Keenan, Keenans Hotel, Roscommon, presenting on practical ways to reduce food waste and cut costs.
Greg Davidson, Cliffs of Moher also highlighted the benefits of greening at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience. In addition to getting tips and advice on how to reduce waste energy and water costs, there also was an opportunity to hear about the outcomes and successes for the greening of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 and plans for 2017 from Karen Foley, Environmental Awareness Officer with Clare County Council.
Over 30 businesses signed up to the Green Fleadh business programme in 2016.
Additional businesses were provided with the opportunity to sign up at the seminar to the Green Fleadh Business Programme and to make a commitment to promote good waste management, energy efficiency, water conservation and keeping their patch clean for Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2017.
