St. Clare’s School on the Gort Rd in Ennis has become the latest Clare school to be presented with the An Taisce Green Flag for its work in introducing and implementing a sustainable water programme and raising awareness in relation to water conservation to the wider community.
To date in 2016, five local schools have received their first An Taisce Green Flag for Litter and Waste, while a further 38 Clare schools have renewed their Green Flag under the themes of energy, water, travel, biodiversity, Global Citizenship Energy, and Global Citizenship Litter and Waste.
Green-Schools is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment. It is run locally by An Taisce in partnership with the Environment section of Clare County Council.
