Body recovered during search for missing man

Tuesday, 1.40pm – GardaĆ­ have confirmed that following the discovery of a body, the missing person appeal in respect of Jack Boddy (20), who was reported missing from Lahinch, Co. Clare since Sunday 15th March 2026 has been stood down.

Tuesday, 12.30pm – The search for man reported missing in North Clare at the weekend has been stood down following the discovery of a body in Lahinch this morning.

An initial search was mounted on Sunday evening after the family of the 20-year-old Limerick man expressed concern for his safety.

Following an appeal for help on Facebook, members of the public gathered early on Monday morning along with volunteers from the Doolin and Killaloe units of the Irish Coast Guard and Clare Civil Defence. The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter also assisted in the operation.

A land and coastal search resumed this morning and at around 9.30am, a body was located on the shoreline at Lahinch. It’s understood the discovery was made my two members of the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard.

GardaĆ­ were notified of the discovery and made their way to the scene. The remains were later recovered from the scene by GardaĆ­ as well Coast Guard and Civil Defence volunteers.

The body, which has yet to be formally identified, has been removed by hearse to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Tuesday: The search will resume this morning for missing Limerick man Jack Boddy who was last seen in Lahinch in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Several hundred members of the public took part in the search on Monday while volunteers from the Doolin and Killaloe units the Irish Coast Guard and Clare Civil Defence joined the effort.

It’s expected that the search will resume at first light today with Coast Guard teams from Doolin and Killaloe expected to be deployed again along with Clare Civil Defence.

Drone technology will be used again during today’s effort allowing teams carry out searches over a wider area including otherwise inaccessible locations.

GardaĆ­, who are coordinating the search effort, issued an appeal for information on Monday afternoon as well as a description of the missing man.

Jack is described as being approximately 5 foot 10 inches in height, with brown hair and blue/green eyes.

He was last seen wearing a navy polo t-shirt and grey combat style pants on Sunday 15th March at approximately 00:45am in Lahinch, Co. Clare.

Anyone with any information on Jack’s whereabouts is asked to contact Ennistymon Garda Station on 065 707 2180, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Monday: A search is continuing in North Clare for a man reported missing at the weekend.

It’s understood that 20-year-old Jack Boddy from Limerick was last seen in the early hours of Sunday in Lahinch and his family are said to be ā€˜extremely concerned’ for his wellbeing.

An appeal on Facebook advised that a search would begin this morning at 6.30am from Hanrahan’s Cross at Moy on the outskirts of Lahinch.

The Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard, Clare Civil Defence and the Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter are involved in the operation. The Killaloe unit of the Coast Guard also dispatched volunteers to assist in the search.

Rescue 115 has been carrying out sweeps of the coastline and inland areas while members of the public have been walking the local roads in search of any trace of the man.

Doolin Coast Guard and Clare Civil Defence have dispatched land search and drone teams to the area.

The search is continuing.
