Customs’ third drug seizure this month at Shannon Airport

Revenue Customs Officers at Shannon Airport have uncovered 2.5 kgs of herbal cannabis the third such seizure at the airport so far this year .

The illicit drugs were discovered as a result of risk profiling and have been estimated to be worth €50,000. The cannabis was found in parcels that originated in the United States and destined for an address in Tipperary.

Investigations are ongoing.

Earlier this month, Revenue officers at Shannon Airport seized 4.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €90,000.

Last Friday, also at Shannon Airport, officers seized 3kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €60,000. The drugs were discovered in parcels also originating in the USA and destined for addresses in Counties Limerick, Cork and Tipperary.
