Clare County Council is inviting applications from community groups in the Shannon Municipal District to the 2019 Community Grants Scheme before the deadline of 4.00pm on Friday, 22 February 2019.
The €30,000 scheme aims to support community groups engaged in a wide range of cultural, artistic, heritage, sporting, educational and community work. Among the recipients of funding in 2018 were Bunratty Local Development Association, Shannon Tidy Towns, Cora Caitlin Men’s Shed, Meelick GAA and Sixmilebridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Cllr. Gerry Flynn, Cathaoirleach of Shannon Municipal District, said the fourth annual Community Grants Scheme for the Shannon MD will appeal to a large number of community organisations throughout the District.
Councillor Flynn added: “The scheme is used mainly to encourage existing groups to develop and enhance their current activities, whilst also encouraging them to develop new and innovative ideas. There is a specific focus on projects which promote culture, local heritage and adult life-long learning; as well as projects which generate civic pride and local community development.”
Successful applicants under the 2019 Scheme must be capable of fully completing their proposed projects on or before 31 October, 2019.
The eligibility criteria and guidelines for applicants are available from the Shannon Municipal District Office, Clare County Council, Shannon Town Hall, Shannon (061 – 362319 /poneill@clarecoco.ie) or may be downloaded from Clare County Council’s website (www.clarecoco.ie/community).
