Update:
11.55pm – Some flights at Shannon have also been affected. Aer Lingus cancelled the EI-386 to London Heathrow as well as the return leg.
Ryanair’s flights FR-4000 from East Midlands and FR-2849 from Malaga both diverted to Dublin.
11.05pm – While fire crews from Scarriff, Killaloe and Kilrush have been dealing with fallen trees and other debris on roads, some incidents have been deemed too dangerous for emergency services to attend.
Clare County Council has confirmed that crews are standing by and will be dispatched to deal with incidents once the Red Alert has been lifted.
10.55pm – Power outages have been reported in several parts of the county tonight including Tullabrack, Drumquin, Ennistymon, Lahinch and Miltown Malbay. 4,000 customers are currently affected.

5.05pm – Some business around the county have opted to close early as a result of the weather warning.
Earlier: Met Éireann has upgrade a wind warning for Clare from Status Orange to RED.
The weather service has warned that it will become stormy on Friday evening and overnight into Saturday morning as Storm Hannah moves in.
Originally, Clare had been placed under a Status Orange alert with mean wind speeds of 65-80 km/h with gusts of 110 to 130 km/h expected.
Met Éireann how says however that we can expect “mean speeds in excess of 80km/h with violent gusts of 130 to 150 km/h for a time this evening.”
As a result there’s a risk of flooding in coastal areas while power outages and fallen trees are also possible across the county.
Met Éireann has warned: “Be prepared for possible disruption and power outages.”
An Garda Síochána have warned: “Cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians should be aware of the danger posed by high winds as they are particularly vulnerable. Drivers of high sided vehicles should take all necessary precautions and pay attention to the warnings.
We ask people living near coastal, cliff and waterway areas, particularly those with children, to be extra cautious considering the gusty winds forecast.”
