Students at the Kemmy Business School (KBS) in University of Limerick are seeking to inspire the public to ‘Fall Back’ in aid of Rape Crisis Midwest.
Second year Executive MBA students undertook a live project where they were presented with a real life organisational dilemma and had 24 hours to come up with a plausible solution and implementation plan, not unlike the format of popular television show The Apprentice.
The organisation in question was Rape Crisis Midwest and the struggle outlined to them was the continuous need for fundraising in order to keep the centre doors open.
The solution was a call to arms in the form a challenge, similar to the viral Ice Bucket Challenge, where the class have come up with a Fall Back Challenge. The challenge consists of two people taking part in and recording a trust fall. As part of the challenge they must:
Create their own Fallback video and Nominate two people they know to do the Fallback challenge
“Katie, Stephen and Owen are students on the Executive MBA who were inspired by the challenges facing Rape Crisis Midwest. Rather than being content with making recommendations about what Rape Crisis Midwest could do, they are running with their idea #FallBack, getting the support they need and making it happen. This is an exciting and innovative campaign which has the capacity to go viral and the Kemmy Business School (KBS) is thrilled to support it in every way we can”, Professor Lisa O’Malley.
“We are delighted to welcome this initiative which blends the corporate and charitable sector together. We are very excited about this campaign, which has been the brainchild of a group of students from the MBA programme”, Executive Director of Rape Crisis Midwest, Miriam Duffy.
The class are confident that with the help and enthusiasm of the Students Union and large student population in the University of Limerick they can create a movement and make the #FallBack challenge go viral. The challenge was officially launched by UL Students Union and Kemmy Business School in the University of Limerick on Wednesday, December 6th.
