Second wind warning this week issued for Clare

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for three western counties including Clare.

The second wind weather alert of the week will come into effect at 10.00am on Friday and remain in place until 4.00pm the same day.

Forecasters are warning of strong and gusty west to southwest winds with the potential for wave over-toppping.

The warning has been issued for counties Clare, Galway and Mayo.

A Status Yellow gale warning has also been issued for coastal waters from Mizen Head to Loop Head to Erris Head. South to southwest winds will reach gale force 8 at times.

The general forecast for Friday is for wet and windy conditions with further outbreaks of rain. It will become drier and brighter during the afternoon with the winds easing by evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees. Fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds with the potential for wave overtopping in the west.
