Clare interest in the 115th South of Ireland Golf Championship has waned with no golfer from the County making it past the qualifying stages.
Woodstock’s Tony Cleary and Thomas Neenan of Lahinch Golf Club had the best finish of the golfers from the Banner County and they narrowly missed out on a place in the first round of matchplay.
Eoin Glynn, Brian Shally, Jason O’Donnell, Daniel Brennan, Declan McInerney, Anthony Sweeney and Sean Burns were others to miss out on the top sixty four qualifying spots.
Saturday morning sees the beginning of the third round of matchplays at Lahinch. The quarter-finals will take place in the afternoon. Sunday is semi-final and final day in the South of Ireland Golf Championships.
