Quilty’s Chloe Moloney is part of the Irish soccer team that have qualified for the elite phase of the UEFA Euro U19s competition.
They are now one step away from securing their place in the European Championships. The final tournament consists of two groups of four, with the top two sides from each progressing to the semi-finals where it becomes a knockout competition.
Chloe featured for her country in wins over Wales on Thursday and FYR Macedonia on Tuesday. She played the full ninety minutes in the 2-0 win over Wales and Moloney also got a full game as they kept a clean sheet and put ten goals past Macedonia.
A former member of the Connolly Celtic club, Chloe now plays her club football with Galway WFC having signed for the FAI Women’s National League side in September of last year.
Ireland have one final game remaining in the qualifying phase, they play Italy on Sunday in Skopje. The Irish defender will have be focused on the game ahead but will be keeping up to date on an event over 3000km away. Her father Aidan Horse Moloney is well known in GAA circles and he will be hoping to manage Kilmurry Ibrickane to glory in the Clare SFC final replay which takes place in Cusack Park.
