A major search and rescue operation was mounted this afternoon after a young man was reported to be stuck in mud amid rising water in the Shannon Estuary.
Two people had to be rescued last night after their boat ran aground on the River Shannon and the occupants were unable to confirm their exact location.
The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was called into action this afternoon to assist three people on board a cruiser that had run aground on Lough Derg.
