The Covid-19 crisis has highlighted the importance of the new Leaving Certificate subject Computer Science, according to researchers at Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software and University of Limerick.

University of Limerick students involved in contact tracing in the fight against COVID-19 have said that “the lists are long” but they are hoping to “make a difference”.

A collaboration between University of Limerick and UL Hospitals Group has seen the design and capacity created to manufacture 100,000 face visors for HSE front-line staff.

As the COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis escalates, University of Limerick President Dr Des Fitzgerald has called on people to “take personal responsibility to try and slow down this virus and save lives”.
