Man seriously injured in Miltown crash

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital following a crash near Miltown Malbay last night.

The single vehicle collision happened at around 10.00pm in Fintrá More near the Whitestrand.

The sole occupant of the vehicle had to be cut from the wreckage by fire crews. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where his condition is described as ‘serious’.

The scene was preserved overnight pending completion of a forensic examination this afternoon.

Traffic was diverted via Miltown Malbay and Whitestrand while the road was reopened shortly after 4.00pm.

Chief Reporter Pat Flynn has worked as a journalist for almost 30 years. His career began during the late 1980s when, like many aspiring radio presenters of the time, he worked for local pirate radio stations in Clare and Limerick. Pat joined Clare FM in 1990 where he worked as researcher initially and later presented several different programmes including the station's flagship current affairs programme.
