A power outage at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre caused by an attempted burglary has resulted in the facility’s closure all day.

Thieves tried to target the popular tourist attraction on Sunday night and in doing so cut off power lines whilst attempting to gain entry.

Clare County Council confirmed An Garda Síochána is investigating an incident at the Cliffs of Moher. Visitors are allowed to tour the cliffs, however all other facilities are off limits.

ESB crews are currently on site and the centre will remain closed until power is restored.
