Barry Ryan will captain the county’s Oscar Traynor side for the first time today (Sunday).

Thirty eight year old Ryan will lead Clare into battle against Roscommon in the absence of Stephen Kelly who is still out of action after picking up an injury in Newmarket Celtic’s FAI Junior Cup fifth round win over Aungier Celtic.

Ennis native Barry played in the League of Ireland for seventeen years where he made four hundred and thirty five appearances between the posts.

More recently he was to the fore for Avenue Utd who knocked rivals Newmarket Celtic out of the Munster Junior Cup on penalties last weekend. Barry will be hoping to continue his run of form in Frank Healy Park at 2pm when Clare host Roscommon.
