Children’s nationwide performing arts network Starcamp is reminding parents that places are filling up for its five Clare summer camps which take place during July and August next.

Dates and venues where the camps will be held are Holy Family National School, Ennis (3-7th and 24-28th July); Glor Theatre, Ennis (31st July to 4th August); St. Senan’s National School, Shannon (10-14th July) and Kilrush Community School (17-21st July).

Now in its 10th year and supported once again by banana importers Fyffes, the week-long camps for boys and girls aged 4-12 are designed to teach performance and build confidence amongst those taking part through song, dance, drama and games.

Headquartered in Carrigaline, Starcamp will visit almost 200 towns across 32 counties this Summer. Interested parents can obtain further information on their website

Chief Reporter Pat Flynn has worked as a journalist for almost 30 years. His career began during the late 1980s when, like many aspiring radio presenters of the time, he worked for local pirate radio stations in Clare and Limerick.

Pat joined Clare FM in 1990 where he worked as researcher initially and later presented several different programmes including the station’s flagship current affairs programme.

He was also the station’s News Editor and Deputy Controller of Programmes. Despite leaving in 2003 to pursue a career as a freelance journalist, he continues to work with the station to this day.

As well as being the Clare Herald’s Chief Reporter Pat is also freelance journalist and broadcaster, contributing to Ireland’s national newspapers and is a regular contributor to national broadcasters.
