Ryanair has confirmed plans to axe its Shannon to Paris route again.

When asked last month about speculation that the airline planned cutting the service, the airline said it was still finalising its winter schedule.

The low cost carrier dropped the route previously in 2010 despite its success and profitability. The airline did so at the time in protest at Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) plans to increase passenger charges at Shannon by €1.53.

Aer Lingus took up the slack from the loss of that service by resuming flights to Paris Charles De Gaulle for the first time in almost a decade. The service was however short lived.

Ryanair later reopened the route again when the Irish Government abolished its controversial ‘travel tax’.

Ryanair has now said it will again drop the twice weekly service from October citing “aircraft capacity constraints.”

“We will slightly reduce our Manchester and Memmingen frequencies from Shannon this summer, while our Paris Beauvais service will not operate this winter, as we continually review each of our 1,800 routes,” the company also confirmed.
