Enterprise Mobility to plant 3,500 native trees in Shannon

Enterprise Mobility, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, has supported the planting of 3,500 native trees in Shannon Town as part of a major community biodiversity initiative on Friday, 28 November 2025.

Timmy Dooley, Minister of State at the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment was in attendance on the day. Through Enterprise Mobility’s Urban Tree Initiative, Enterprise Mobility team members and local partners came together to improve local green space and contribute to long-term environmental resilience in County Clare.

The planting event took place at lands adjacent to Mary Immaculate Church, Tullyglass, with the support of local tree planting partner, Trees on the Land and in collaboration with Shannon Tidy Towns.

Among the 3,500 native Irish trees to be planted are Oak, Birch, Alder, Scots Pine, Rowan, Willow, Crab Apple, Spindle, Guelder Rose, Hazel, Hawthorn and Buckthorn, with species selected specifically to strengthen the ecological health of the area.

Brendan Grieve, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Mobility, Ireland, said: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we operate. I am grateful to our team members and volunteers who have come together to support this important work in the Shannon region. Planting 3,500 native trees is an investment in urban forestry, climate resilience and community wellbeing and will help strengthen this important habitat for generations to come.”

Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation added: “Working with Enterprise Mobility allows us to scale meaningful environmental action at a local level. By prioritizing biodiversity, this project will support pollinators, enrich soil, and strengthen Shannon Town’s

environment against the potential impacts of disease, pests, and climate change. Native tree planting projects like this one are also vital for improving air quality, connecting wildlife corridors, and restoring the natural landscape. We are grateful for the support of Enterprise Mobility and and local community members to bring this project to life.”

Enterprise Mobility’s Urban Tree Initiative was launched in 2018 and supports urban forestry plantings in communities throughout North America and Europe. The programme complements Enterprise Mobility’s 50 Million Tree Pledge initiative – also in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation – which launched in 2006 with the goal of planting 50 million trees across North America and Europe within 50 years.
