New figures published by the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) show Shannon Airport recorded the strongest year-on-year passenger growth among Ireland’s major airports in June, with traffic increasing by 14% compared to the same month last year.
Speaking today, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, Ray O’Driscoll said: “We are encouraged to see the recently published industry figures from ITIC showing Shannon Airport recording the strongest year-on-year passenger growth among Ireland’s major airports in June.
This provides further evidence of the positive impact of our ongoing route development strategy and the strong partnerships we continue to build with our airline partners.
The introduction of a fourth based Ryanair aircraft this year, together with four new services to Madrid, Rome, Warsaw and Poznań, has played a significant role in driving this 14% growth. The new Discover Airlines route to Frankfurt, together with increased frequencies on the Aer Lingus Boston service also made an important contribution, while providing passengers with even greater choice and connectivity through Shannon Airport.
