ASL Airlines Ireland seeks WRC intervention in pilot dispute

ASL Airlines Ireland (ASLI) has requested the services of the Workplace Relation Commission (WRC), under the Industrial Relations Act, in the dispute which has led to strike notice being served on the airline.

Having engaged extensively with IALPA, the pilot branch of the Forsa trade union, ASLI believes that an impasse has been reached. Consequently, the airline hopes that conciliafion talks in the WRC is the most appropriate way to find a mutually acceptable solufion.

ASL Airlines Ireland has wriften to IALPA asking that they accept an invitafion to talks in the WRC, and to suspend their strike nofice to allow these talks to proceed to resolufion. ASL is willing to aftend talks at the earliest convenience of the WRC.

ASLI believes that negofiafions on a framework agreement took place in good faith between the airline ands IALPA, and that a solufion to the current impasse can be found with the assistance of the WRC.

The current impasse centres on ASLI’s desire to ensure that there is no commercial conflict of interest between negofiators for the pilots and the airline.

ASLI understands that this same issue has been successfully resolved previously between other airlines, IALPA and the Forsa Union.
