Recent figures are showing less people are signing on to the live register in Co Clare.
6,875 Clare people were claiming for unemployment in April 2016 according to figures from the Central Statistics Office with over half of these in Ennis.
This time six years ago, 10,504 individuals in Co Clare were signing on to the live register. In April 2013, 9,533 was the amount and that decreased to 8,739 in April 2014 and twelve months ago the figure stood at 7,800.
Of the 6,875 unemployed men and women in the Banner County, 3,725 are in Ennis, 1,147 live in Ennistymon, there are 1,039 in Kilrush, Tulla has 964 unemployed.
781 under 25’s signed on to the live register in Clare this April, of this figure 427 were in Ennis. Meanwhile 134 male and female under 25’s are unemployed in Kilrush with 125 and 95 on the register in Ennistymon and Tulla respectively.
Once more Clare’s County town has the highest amount of unemployed individuals over the age of twenty five with 3,298 seeking benefits in April. Across Clare, there were 1,022 in Ennistymon, 905 in Kilrush and Tulla had 869 over twenty fives unemployed.
Nine hundred and thirty three more men than women signed on in April in Co Clare. 3,904 males sought the dole in comparison to 2,971 females.
