Burren and Inis Cealtra heritage list announcement delayed

Clare Independent T.D. Michael McNamara says a decision regarding the inclusion of the Cultural Landscape of the Burren Uplands and Holy Island (Inis Cealtra) on a new Tentative List of potential World Heritage Properties for Ireland has been pushed back until June.

Holy Island could be dropped from UNESCO List

Inis Cealtra (Holy Island) in East Clare will fall off Ireland's Tentative List for UNESCO World Heritage Sites unless Clare County Council pulls out the stops now, according to Deputy Michael McNamara.

McNamara backs inclusion of Clare sites on UNESCO list

Clare Independent T.D. Michael McNamara is urging Clare County Council to submit applications for Inis Cealtra (Holy Island), Cahercommaun Ringfort and the Burren for inclusion on Ireland’s Tentative List for future World Heritage nominations to UNESCO and to explore submitting additional sites such as Scattery Island (Inis Cathaigh) and Mooghaun Hillfort.
