A Shannon based aviation services company continues to expand its operation with confirmation of ten new jobs on top of ten already announced earlier this year.
Atlantic Aviation Group has announced ten new positions at its Shannon based Hangar adding to their existing workforce of over 200 employees.
The announcement follows a similar one in April when the company confirmed the same number of positions.
The news also comes as bosses confirmed negotiations are ongoing with several major airlines regarding further multi-aircraft contracts.
HR and Training Director Caoimhe O’Donnell said: “We are creating a new project team of licensed B1 and B2 engineers and aircraft mechanics who will add extra strength and flexibility to our existing aircraft maintenance workforce as the company continues to grow over the coming months and years.”
The aviation specialist company is independently Irish-owned and its management team has very ambitious plans for the company’s future.
Company CEO Connor Flanagan said: “This is an exciting time to be joining our company. We are in discussions with a number of major airlines for multi-aircraft contracts for the rest of the year and beyond. In order to meet the increased demand for our services, we are looking to recruit talented and ambitious individuals, who will add to the experienced team that we currently have.”
Atlantic Aviation Group is a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company that works with airlines, cargo and executive aircraft from around the world. Plans for the future include expansion of the Part 147 Training School and the company’s technical and design services.
Just last month, staff at AAG celebrated news that apprentice Florian Byrnes from Limerick won the IrelandSkills National Competition in Aircraft Maintenance.
The IrelandSkills National Competition has been running since 1956 and aims to encourage excellence in industrial and service skills, assessing a broad range of skill disciplines, including Aircraft Maintenance.
The company’s apprenticeship program is highly sought after, attracting hundreds of applications each year.
AAG has operated under several names since the early 60’s including Shannon Repair Services (SRS) which was bought by Aer Lingus in 1967.
UPS later acquired the maintenance division of SRS from Aer Lingus and renamed the company Shannon MRO building a new state of the art facility adjacent to Shannon’s main runway.
In 2004, Air Atlanta Icelandic acquired the company from UPS and rebranded as Air Atlanta Aero Engineering.
In 2012, the company was taken over Transaero Engineering Ireland, a 100% subsidiary of the now defunct Transaero Airlines.
The Company was renamed Atlantic Aviation Group following the purchase of Transaero Engineering Ireland by Mr. Patrick Jordan in April 2015.
