Clare County Council has announced the return of Clare Climate Action Week, taking place from October 12 to 18, with a week-long programme of events, workshops and community initiatives aimed at promoting climate awareness and encouraging practical action across the county.
Building on the success of previous climate initiatives, the programme will highlight local efforts to address climate change while showcasing how communities, businesses and organisations are contributing to a greener, healthier and more resilient Clare. The week will also provide opportunities for the public to learn about sustainability and take part in activities that support climate action at a local level.
Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr Joe Killeen said, “I am delighted to see Clare Climate Action Week return for a second year. The success of last year’s programme demonstrated the enthusiasm and commitment that exists across our communities. This week is an opportunity to showcase local climate action, inspire new ideas, and encourage everyone to play their part in creating a more sustainable future for County Clare.”
Senior Engineer in Climate Action, Environment and Water Services with Clare County Council, Anne O’Sullivan said, “Climate Action Week is an opportunity to help people understand that climate action starts at home and in our communities. Through a wide range of events and activities, we hope to inspire practical actions that can make a real difference for our environment and quality of life.”
Senior Executive Engineer & Climate Action Coordinator with Clare County Council, Ann Cronin added “The strength of Climate Action Week lies in its ability to bring people together. Whether you are interested in energy upgrades, circular economy, sustainable gardening, sustainable transport or community action, the week provides opportunities to learn, share experiences and be part of positive change. Events will be held in Libraries and other venues around the County with one event taking place on Zoom.”
All are encouraged to get involved, learn something new, and be part of the county’s journey towards a sustainable future.
