18-year-old man killed in Ennis collision

Monday – 9.40am: The victim has been named as Oisín Cahill from Clonfeigh, Inch.

Sunday – 6:45pm: The fire service was called back to the scene at around midday to assist with clearing the scene of debris.

Once the forensic examination of the scene was completed, the car was removed for further analysis and the road reopened.

Earlier: An 18-year-old boy has been killed while and two others were seriously injured an early morning crash in Co Clare.

The single vehicle collision happened at around 4.20am on the Shanaway Road at Woodstock on the outskirts of Ennis.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and found a car with three occupants had crashed into a stone pillar at the entrance to Woodstock View housing estate.

Three young men were seriously injured in the collision. One, understood to have been the front seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and backseat passenger, aged 19 and 21, were rushed to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries. One is believed to have been critically injured.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by the Garda forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.
