A man in his 20s has died following a collision between his motorcycle and car in Co Galway this afternoon.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision which occurred shortly after 4.00pm at Tonroe, on the N67 between Clarinbridge and Oranmore in Co. Galway.
Units of Galway Fire and Rescue Service from Loughrea station responded to the scene along with National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí.
Gardaí have confirmed that the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. His body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will take place. The Coroner has been notified.
There were no other injuries reported.
The scene, on the old Limerick to Galway road, has been examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road has since reopened to traffic.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
