Gardaí are investigating two incidents of assault which occurred in Ennis at the weekend.
Crime Prevention Officer for Clare, Sergeant Catriona Holohan outlined the circumstances of the first incident and has issued an appeal for witnesses.
Sgt Holohan said: “Ennis Gardaí are investigating an assault on an 18-year-old male on New Road in Ennis on Friday night at 10.30pm. This young man was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel and brought to University Hospital Limerick with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was male and part of a larger group. Following this assault, the suspect and the larger group left the scene on foot walking from New Road onto Newbridge Road and were last seen walking over Club Bridge in the direction of Ennis town.”
Sgt Holohan added: “Ennis Gardaí area appealing to anyone that may have been driving along New Road or Newbridge Road last Friday night at 10.30pm, you may have witnessed this incident or the large group walking towards town.

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Ennis are investigating an assault that occurred on Barrack Street in Ennis on Saturday afternoon between 12.45pm and 1pm.
A male approached the injured party, a male in his 70’s. The suspect was became agitated and punched the injured party in the face. The suspect described as male in his 30’s, short in height and medium build fled the scene on foot in the direction of O’Connell Street.
Sgt Holohan said: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone that was on O’Connell Street last Saturday, the 14th June. Did you observe any male matching this description? If you did, I would ask that you please contact Ennis Garda Station or your local Garda Station.”
