In October and November Rotary Club of Ennis will again join with Rotary Clubs from all 32 counties to sponsor the Youth Leadership Development Competition.
This competition rewards young people with clear leadership potential based on their extra-curricular activities.
Twenty four winners will visit Belfast and meet with local politicians and business leaders, then travel to Dublin for further meetings with leaders and then the highlight of the trip will be to debate a variety of motions in the European Parliament in Strasbourg at Euroscola.
Representing Ennis last year was Hannah Keane, Transition Year student from Coláiste Muire.
She said, “I only entered to earn a few extra TY points. Yet I won a luxury hotel trip to Strasbourg and had direct conversations with a government Minister and other top officials. Over all the experience gave me and the rest of the Ireland team confidence that we can compete with the best of Europe.”
Any Ennis Transition Year student or older who would like to participate can contact their school TY Coordinator for a simple application form that outlines their extra-curricular experience.
The deadline for applications is 6 October.
Rotary Club of Ennis is part of Rotary International and composed of business and professional people working together to provide service to their community, locally and internationally.
