New Status Yellow Ice Warning issued for Clare

Met Éireann has issued a further low temperature/ice warning for Clare.

The Status Yellow alert will come into effect at 8.00pm on Saturday and remain in place until 9.00am on Sunday.

Met Éireann is warning of icy stretches on untreated surfaces; poor visibility and potential hazardous travelling conditions.

Forecast

Today

A cold day with sunny spells and some scattered showers. The showers may turn wintry on higher ground. Highest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees in moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.

Tonight

Tonight will be cold with frost and icy stretches developing. It will be mostly dry overnight with clear spells, but some mist and fog patches may form later. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees in light or moderate westerly winds.

Tomorrow

It will be a cold start to tomorrow, Sunday, with some icy stretches possible. Any mist or fog patches will clear during the morning and the rest of the day will be bright with sunny spells and isolated showers will developing. Highest temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees in light or moderate westerly winds.

Earlier – Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Ice Warning for Ireland and a separate Status Snow and Ice Warning for Clare

The first Snow/Ice warning will come into effect at midday today (Friday) and remain in place until 6.00pm (Friday)

A second Ice Warning will be valid from 6.00pm today until 9.00am on Saturday.

The weather service says it will be cold tonight with ice on untreated surfaces leading to hazardous travelling conditions.

A band of rain will continue to move southwards, turning to sleet and snow in places.
