With the centenary of the East Clare By-Election approaching on 10th July, a link to the event which began the political career of Eamon de Valera has gone on display at Clare Museum in Ennis.

A rare autograph book containing the signatures of many of the key figures from Ireland’s revolutionary period including Michael Collins, Arthur Griffith and Countess Markievicz has been donated to Clare Museum.

Clare Museum has launched its contribution to the Local Authority Museum Network’s exhibition ‘1916 Across the Country’, which features a single exhibit, the form used on 7th May 1916 to commit Countess Markievicz to prison following her participation in the Easter Rising.
