Irish Water staff joined representatives of An Taisce’s Clean Coasts, the Kilkee Chamber of Commerce and local school children at a Big Beach Clean in Kilkee.

Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Mr. Eoghan Murphy T.D.  has confirmed that once water services legislation providing for refunds is enacted, expected in the autumn, refunds of domestic water charges can and will commence.

Irish Water has met with members of Kilkee Chamber of Commerce where the recent closure of the local beach and failure of a pump station were discussed.

The beach at Kilkee has been closed to bathers due to a discharge of wastewater and just weeks after it reopened following a ban on swimming last December.

Irish Water and Clare County Council are taking action to address issues with poor water pressure in parts of Killaloe, with an investment of over €200,000 to identify and repair leaking pipes.

Irish Water says it has made significant progress in addressing issues at Clare’s water supply schemes which are on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Remedial Action List (RAL).
