It’s understood that one person has been taken to hospital for assessment but their injuries are not believed to be serious. A second occupant of the vehicle escaped unhurt.
The incident occurred at around 2.45pm at Hurler’s Cross. A car travelling northbound on the N18 left the road, struck a low ditch and ploughed into trees coming to a stop in its roof.
Gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the incident along with units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis.
As crews from the nearest station in Shannon were tied up with another call, units of Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service were also mobilised. Crews from Shannon attended the incident after dealing with their original call.
It’s understood that there were two people in the vehicle and that they managed to exit to overturned car themselves. They were assessed at the scene by paramedics and one was transported to hospital for further treatment but it’s understood this was just as a precaution.
As the vehicle had come to a stop off the dual-carriageway, traffic was not affected.
