Emergency services have dealt with two road traffic collisions in the county this afternoon.
On the M18, a single-vehicle crash occurred at around 5.15pm in the northbound carriageway at Manus between junction 11 (Dromoland) and junction 12 (Killoo).
A vehicle is believed to have lost control and struck the crash barrier in the hard shoulder before then colliding with the median safety barrier.
Gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the scene along with units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis and Shannon stations. A passing private ambulance also stopped at the scene to render assistance.
Fire crews implemented an emergency traffic management plan to allow vehicles safely pass the scene however the northbound lanes were later closed and traffic diverted off the motorway while the vehicle was safely removed and the scene cleared of debris.
It’s understood that two people have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The motorway was fully reopened once the car had been recovered from the scene.
Meanwhile, no injuries have been reported following a second collision near Cratloe. The crash happened at the railway bridge on the Cratloe to Sixmilebridge road at Brickhill East shortly before 6.00pm.
