Sharon Shannon will play the ‘Lahinch Live’ stage in the Championship Village on Friday July 5, with the weekend line-up including Chasing Abbey, The Logues and Brave Giant on Saturday, followed by Hermitage Green to close the event after the final putt drops on Sunday night.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the second Rolex Series event of the 2019 Race to Dubai, will be played over the spectacular Old Course at Lahinch Golf Club for the first time from July 4-7, and will be hosted by The 2014 Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley.

Sharon Shannon, from Ruan County Clare, recently returned from an extended tour of Australia and New Zealand. The famous Irish folk singer is taking time away from the recording studio where she is working on her new album to play summer festivals across Ireland, Europe, Britain and Canada, with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open a first for the local star.

Sharon Shannon said; “I’m really looking forward to performing at this prestigious international sporting event in my home County of Clare.”

Tullamore’s hip hop sensations Chasing Abbey will headline the Saturday night of this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open and will be supported by Tyrone Folk rock band The Logues and Longford’s indie folk quartet Brave Giant, while Limerick rockers Hermitage Green will close out the tournament on the Sunday night.

Many local acts have also been confirmed to play in the Heineken bar in the Championship Village. They include 19-year-old Clodagh Lawlor, who appeared on RTE’s The Voice of Ireland, and The Hazards, a band of young aspiring musicians. Michael ‘Blackie’ O’Connell and friends will also take to the stage following successful tours across Europe, USA and Asia.

A world-class field will vie for the prestigious Dubai Duty Free Irish Open title this year, including Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Danny Willett, Russell Knox, Seamus Power and Louis Oosthuizen.

Hurling All Stars Cian Lynch (Limerick), Joe Canning (Galway), Shane O’Donnell (Clare), former Clare hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald and rugby legend Paul O’Connell are just some of the stars taking part in the Pro Am.

Alongside the golf, Saturday at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open will see BEO Bites kick things off in the morning in the new Lifestyle Pavilion in the Championship Village, with further names to be added to the line-up in the coming weeks.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open takes place from July 3-7. A special afternoon ticket is available on the Friday for €25, which includes access to the golf from 4pm and the Sharon Shannon concert.
