Kerry will be without two of their top forwards for Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Clare.
Colm Cooper has been ruled out of the clash with a shoulder injury. The thirty three year old picked up the blow in the Munster Final win over Tipperary at the beginning of July. An MRI scan revealed the Dr Crokes attacker did ligament damage to his shoulder.
Dingle’s Michael Geaney will play no part in Sunday’s tie due to an ankle complaint. Geaney came on for Cooper in the provincial decider, the duo scored a tally of 1-08 between them in Kerry’s win over Clare in the Munster Championship meeting at the start of June.
Manager Éamonn Fitzmaurice will also be without Johnny Buckley who is still recovering after a collision with Peter Crowley at Kerry training.
Fortunately for Colm Collins and Clare they have no fresh injuries to worry about but are still sweating on their appeal against the red card given to Cathal O’Connor during last weekend’s win over Roscommon.
