Neil Moynihan is to continue as manager of the Clare Intermediate Ladies Football team.
In his first year in charge the Galway native saw his side lose out to Kildare in the All-Ireland Final by the smallest of margins.
Having been involved with Ladies Football teams for the past twelve years Neil will be hoping Clare can go one step further in 2017. He has previously managed college teams in GMIT and NUIG as well as the Galway Minors.
His training methods have been described by players as extremely tough but they felt other teams failed to match their fitness levels in their run to the decider. Last year there was a panel of twenty one players and Moynihan will be looking for a strong commitment from the girls willing to represent their county.
Speaking to The Clare Herald in September, Neil revealed what enticed him to the role of Clare boss. “One hundred percent the challenge, I understood the results Clare had had the year before, losing to Cavan 4-25 0-05, losing to Donegal 5-19 1-03 or something like that and with those poor results I saw a huge challenge and it’s something I really wanted to take, I wanted to take a team that seemed to be in the barron spell and try and get them back to their glory days so that’s what enticed me to it and I’m glad it’s kind of worked out”.
