The Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard and the Shannon based search and rescue helicopter were requested to mount a search.
The team launched their rescue boat and quickly located the four in the middle of the bay clinging onto recently installed marker buoys.
The casualties were all taken on board the boat and assessed. They were found to be unharmed and taken safely ashore at the slipway in Kilkee.
The helicopter was stood down when it was confirmed the swimmers had been located and did not require medical assistance.
