UK food retailer Iceland has confirmed plans to invest €12m in Ireland with the opening of a further 9 new stores including on in Co Clare.
A total of 270 new jobs will be created in the new outlets in Shannon, Tallaght, Galway, Douglas, Fermoy, Ballincollig, Letterkenny, Limerick and Gorey.
The company already has stores in 12 locations in Ireland.
The Tallaght store, which opened today, is the thirteenth store in the portfolio which will grow to 21 stores nationwide over the next 12 months.
This growth will see Iceland expand its employee base of over 530 in the second half of this year.
Managing Director of Iceland Ireland, Ron Metcalfe said: “We have been back in Ireland for four years now and have been committed to expansion from day one. This new investment sees 2017 as our biggest year yet with our nine new stores opening.”
The company expects to create between 30 and 35 positions at the Shannon store.
